The Securities and Exchange Commission has scheduled an open meeting for October 7, 2020 to consider whether to issue for comment a notice proposing to grant a conditional exemption, pursuant to the Securities Exchange Act from the broker registration requirements for “finders.” The need for more clarity or for an express exemption for finders has been raised as a recommendation for many years by participants in the annual SEC Government-Business Forum on Small Business Capital Formation.
